ABOUT AMELIA KNOX.

AMELIA KNOX
Owner | Principal Designer

Amelia Knox is a Maryland-based designer known for creating refined, functional spaces that enhance the way people live and experience their environments. Her work is rooted in the belief that thoughtful design has the power to elevate quality of life — shaping not just how a space looks, but how it feels and performs every day.

Raised in a family of accomplished visual artists, Amelia developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and detail at an early age. As the daughter of renowned portrait painter Simmie L. Knox, she witnessed firsthand how precision, patience, and intention transform individual brushstrokes into a cohesive masterpiece. Her mother, Roberta, also a visual artist, further cultivated her creative foundation. This dual artistic influence instilled in Amelia a discerning eye and an enduring understanding that the smallest details contribute to the greater vision.

Amelia earned her Master of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture and Design from The George Washington University, where she refined her technical expertise and design philosophy. Prior to transitioning into the design field, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Justice from Howard University and spent over a decade working in social services.

Her background in psychology and social services remains central to her design approach. Years of client advocacy and problem-solving cultivated a deep sense of empathy, active listening, and strategic thinking — skills that now inform how she guides clients through the design process. Amelia approaches each project with curiosity and care, seeking to understand the unique rhythms, challenges, and aspirations of those she designs for.

For Amelia, design is both art and service: a collaborative process that transforms physical space into environments that feel intentional, personal, and enduring.
